The White Fire: The Leader Who Ended The World, Part II

Aras Halil was killed on May 7, 1994. What seemed like an unfortunate accidental death of a young Turkish man was in fact a blessing in disguise.

Aras was born March 5, 1975 in Ankara Turkey. He was raised by his father who was part of the Turkish Armed Forces in the late 1970s and early 1980s. During this time Turkey was run by the National Security Council after the Turkish Coup D'etate in 1980. Aras grew up idolizing western culture and had aspirations of traveling through Europe and then to the United States. In 1989 he witnessed on television the fall of the Berlin wall and was struck by President Reagan's power over the Soviet Union. He continued to follow the impending collapse of the Soviet Union and began to yearn for power. He saw himself as a force that could bridge the divide of the East and West through his country of Turkey. In 1993 he traveled to Moscow during the Russian Constitutional Crisis. He was not opposed to any particular side but instead was there to study and observe how the massive super power that was once the Soviet Union could reunify. He unsuccessfully tried leading a group of pro-Yeltsin supporters but was was shoved to the side and nearly killed by a stray bullet. Once back home in January of 1994 he began forming a group called The Turkish Prospects, a gathering of young potential leaders with pro western views. Aras was by far the most vivacious and hypnotizing leader of the group. His words and tone resonated through the young minds, ages 15 to 25 years old. They even created a flag that was drenched in white with a blue, yellow and red dot in the center. The blue dot signifying the west, the yellow dot as Turkey and the red dot signifying the east. The sudden death of Aras came as a shock to The Turkish Prospects. They went through several new leaders but found that no one had the ability and desire to build upon the groups vision. It was dissolved in 1995.
